Online application & VFS: Denmark uses an online system (ApplyVisa) for the visa form and fee. You fill it online, pay by card, then book an appointment at VFS Global Bangkok to give fingerprints and documents. No direct embassy submissions for tourist visas, so plan to use VFS.
Official invitation (VU1): Have your Danish partner submit an online invitation (VU1) via the Danish immigration website. They’ll get an Invitation ID which you should include in your application. This isn’t mandatory, but it greatly smooths the process because the embassy can see your partner’s details electronically. If not using the online invite, have your partner fill out a paper invitation form or at least write a detailed invitation letter.
Strict on ties & intent: Denmark is known to be careful with “risk” cases (young Thai with much older partner, or unemployed applicant). They will scrutinize your intent to return. Be very clear in your cover letter about why you will come back (e.g. family responsibilities, a stable job, or future plans in Thailand). If you have previous travel history (especially to Europe), mention it, as it helps build trust.
Financial proof: If you don’t have a steady income, Denmark will look to your sponsor. Include your partner’s salary slips, bank statements, and sponsorship letter. However, also show any assets or savings you have. They want to see that you won’t be stranded financially. All documents should be in English (get any Thai documents translated).
