Visitor visa guide for 🇦🇹 Austria

Austria expects a clear travel plan and well structured proof of ties and finances. If you are visiting a partner, your invitation and accommodation details must match your itinerary and booking evidence.

Additional tips for our Schengen checklist.

Apply via VFS Global in Bangkok – book an appointment early, as walk-ins are not allowed. Embassy interviews are rare if your documents are complete.

Invitation letter: A simple personal invite from your partner (with their ID copy) is accepted. No official form is required, but include details of your relationship and trip plans.

Financial sponsorship: Austria is okay with a sponsor, but if your partner covers your expenses, include their bank statements and a signed sponsor letter. Also show any savings you have, as visa officers like to see you’re financially secure too.

Ties to Thailand: Highlight your job, family, or obligations in Thailand. Austrian visas typically get approved if you prove you’ll return (e.g. employment letter, business license, or assets as evidence).
